In order to meet our goal of improving health in the village, we would like to:- set up a small dispensary that would carry some basic supplies and perhaps offer a venue for visiting health professionals i.e. immunization clinics, HIV/AIDS testing outreaches, etc.
- arrange for bi-annual health days with local professionals and/or non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
- provide children’s books in local languages to address topics of importance to the children such as hygiene and nutrition.
Achievements to date:
- built a small dispensary attached to the school.
- arranged with HEALTH Inc. (another NGO based in India) to adapt their children’s story books to the Ugandan language and context.
- arranged with a Canadian-Ugandan team of dental professionals to provide outreach to the village.
- distributed bed nets to Kibooba’s households.
- conducted discussions with local NGO Noah's Ark regarding access to their health clinic and outreach; awaiting confirmation.
What remains to be done:
- stock the dispensary with emergency supplies, basic equipment.
- arrange for outreach visits by local professionals and or local NGOs
- obtain, re-illustrate and translate the relevant HEALTH Inc. story books.
