Further development of the Kibooba Village school...

School time The Kibooba primary school for orphans was supported and constructed by Kibooba's community based organization, Kibooba Village Memorial Orphanage Care Centre (KVMOCC). It is currently a very basic structure with minimal furniture and supplies. The school provides the children with one meal per day as this is often the only substantial meal they will eat. However, they are having difficulty sustaining the school and the infrastructure requires finishing and further development. While the income generating projects are being designed to support the on-going operations cost of the school, Friends of Kibooba has also set a goal to help them develop the school infrastructure.

Achievements to date:
  • Supplied the school with text books for each class level.
  • Paved the floors to prevent health problems related to dust and parasitic insects.
  • Installed windows and doors to the school.

What remains to be done:
  • purchase furniture including chairs and desks for the children, teachers, blackboards,
  • establish hand-washing facilities.
  • fence the Kibooba property
NOTE: As of August 2009 a partnership was formed with 4Oneworld, a non-governmental organization based in the United States. 4Oneworld has since taken over supporting the Kibooba operational costs and upgrading infrastructure! Find out more about them on their website: www.4oneworld.org
